Child safety standards
Last updated: 18 October 2026
LightVow lets people send messages, photos, videos and voice notes to someone on a future date. LightVow is for adults: an account requires being 18 or over. Children can be the people a message is written for — a letter to a child for their 18th birthday is one of the reasons the product exists — which is exactly why we hold this standard without exception.
Zero tolerance
LightVow prohibits child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any form of child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE). That includes, without limitation:
- Any sexual or sexualised image, video, audio or text involving a minor, real or generated.
- Grooming: using a message to build contact with a child for sexual purposes.
- Sextortion, or threats to share intimate content of a minor.
- Trafficking, or advertising or soliciting a child for sexual purposes.
- Content that sexualises children in any other way.
Our AI tools (writing help and card design) refuse such requests, and no message containing such content may be sealed or delivered.
How to report
- In the app: every opened message has a Something wrong with this? control at the bottom. Choose what is wrong and send it; you do not need an account.
- By email: write to hello@lightvow.com with the subject “Child safety report”, and the link you received if you have it.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first.
What we do
- A person is alerted immediately. A report involving a child does not wait in a queue.
- Delivery is stopped. The message, and any collection it belongs to, is held so it cannot be delivered or opened while it is reviewed.
- Confirmed material is removed and the account is closed. The sender’s account is terminated and they may not open another.
- We report it. Confirmed CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to the relevant authorities, including the Israel Police, and we preserve what the law requires us to preserve for them.
- We cooperate with law enforcement on any lawful request concerning child safety.
Child safety contact
Our designated point of contact for child safety, including for app stores and law enforcement, is Ravid Zer, at hello@lightvow.com. LightVow is operated by Ravid Zer, a sole trader registered in Israel.
